Elementary-School Curriculum Is All Wrong – The Atlantic

Knowledge is required for reading comprehension. Most curriculums that focus on reading skills (but bounce all over the place) don’t give children an opportunity to build their base of knowledge and vocabulary. The children’s ability to grow in reading skills is limited by focusing on reading skills.

National Review: Senator Booker’s Terrible Tax Proposal

Although I still like the savings plan, that is a good point about the estate tax part of it. I wouldn’t have expected a 65% rate – although it would also be interesting to see how many people with more than $100 million have signed up to Buffets plan to give it all away.
